Why Cave selected it

Early-drinking, classically scented Nebbiolo from a leading Barolo estate, organically certified and offering precision red-fruit character with refined tannins at a fair price.

About the wine

Made from 15 year old  Nebbiolo vines with south to southwest exposures at altitudes of 200-450 meters. The grapes undergo a 10 days of maceration on skins in steel tanks before ageing for 10 months in used barrels. The wine is then bottles and left to age for a further 3 months before release. A beautiful Langhe Nebbiolo great with gilled pork chop.

Notes on the producer

Founded in 1982 by Claudio Conterno and Guido Fantino, they cultivate a total of 27 hectares of organic vines, producing approximately 140,000 bottles a year from native varietals Nebbiolo, Barbera & Dolcetto. Sustainability is at the heart of the winery, where they have included geothermal systems, solar and wetlands for their waste. They are completely hands-on starting with a manual harvest and they only ferment with wild yeasts. A sensitive use of oak is s used to preserve the integrity of the wine.
