Bordeaux is built around blends, usually Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and related varieties for red wines. Left Bank wines often lean more Cabernet and structured; Right Bank wines often bring more Merlot and roundness, though producer and vintage matter just as much.
Bordeaux is useful when you want savoury red wine with tannin, depth and food compatibility. It works naturally with steak, lamb, mushrooms, roast meats and hard cheeses, especially when the bottle has enough freshness to balance the structure.
