Why Cave selected it

A pinpoint, terroir‑focused Blanc de Noirs that shows the Côte des Bar’s cool, north‑facing Kimmeridgian Pinot Noir in a brisk, saline Brut Nature style.

About the wine

This cuvée draws from a series of plots of pinot noir all planted on Kimmeridgian limestone and all facing north. Aged in older French oak barrels before lying sur lattes; the bottles were ultimately disgorged with no dosage.

About Champagne Clandestin

Benoît Doussot trained as a winemaker in Burgundy before moving to the Côte des Bar to start a “micro-négociant” business with Bertrand Gautherot. Their aim with Clandestin is to help growers make the best use of “hidden” or underappreciated plots, as well as to aid in their conversion to organic farming practices.
