About the wine

Atance Bobal 2024 is a fresh, juicy organic red from inland Valencia, made entirely from the region’s native Bobal grape. Ripe cherry, raspberry and a touch of Mediterranean herbs give it plenty of character without weighing it down.

Supple tannins and bright fruit make this an easy bottle for the table. Serve lightly chilled with paella, charcuterie, roast chicken or vegetable dishes.

Atance is made by Risky Grapes, the project of Toni Sarrión and the family behind Bodegas Mustiguillo. It brings their commitment to local grapes and organic farming to an approachable range of wines from the highlands of Valencia.

How it is made

Temperature-controlled fermentation in concrete and stainless steel, with gentle stirring of the lees. Sources differ on ageing: the general producer sheet describes approximately six months in tank, while 2024 retailer listings describe four months in French oak. Exact ageing for this lot remains unconfirmed.

Vineyard & terroir

Estate-grown Bobal from Venta del Moro in inland Valencia. Organically farmed, dry-farmed bush vines grow on sandy soils. The producer identifies the source as Casa Segura, at approximately 800 metres altitude.
