Aurélien sourced fruit from two west-facing, chalk-rich parcels with just 20cm of topsoil over deep Campanian limestone—similar to Côte des Blancs terroir. No malolactic fermentation preserves the wine’s tension and airy precision, offering fine balance, racy acidity, and a chalky, bitter lift that carries through a long, savoury finish. Disgorged 12/20, dosage 4g/l.
Notes on the producer
Laherte & Frères are based in Chavot-Courcourt just to the south of Epernay in an area that falls between the Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. Domaine head Aurélien is part of a dynamic young generation of vignerons making waves in Champagne and producing a fine array of terroir-driven champagnes, adopting a natural approach to viticulture, looking for balance in their grapes, soils and vineyards.
