The fruit is hand-harvested from old, self-rooted blocks across Dundee Hills (Weber, Maresh, Durant and Anderson) on largely dry-farmed sites. Small-lot ferments incorporate roughly 30% whole clusters and the wines are aged for c.10 months in neutral, tight-grained French Burgundy barrels (228L) before bottling (Mirabai 2022 was bottled 26 May 2023). The finished wine shows a brilliant, translucent ruby hue with a fresh, concentrated strawberry and raspberry nose, sappy red-berry fruit on the palate, lifted acidity and a long, silky finish — a pure expression of Dundee Hills Pinot. 

Notes on the producer

Kelley Fox founded Kelley Fox Wines in 2007 (with support from her father, Gerson “Gus” Stearns) and works primarily with historic, low-yielding vineyards in the Willamette Valley — notably Maresh, Weber and other old-vine sites. Her approach is hands-on and low-intervention: she farms with biodynamic principles where appropriate, sources fruit from dry-farmed, self-rooted blocks, works in small lots in the cellar, and prefers neutral French oak élevage to showcase site character. Kelley’s wines are intentionally vineyard-driven, modest in production and widely sought after for their clarity, texture and sense of place.
