The farming is certified-organic and all fruit is hand-harvested from 40-year-old vines planted on sandy-clay soils studded with galets roulés. Whole clusters are pressed gently and fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in enamel-lined steel tanks and concrete vats, without any added sulfur. After primary fermentation the wine undergoes full malolactic conversion and is aged for 12–13 months on its fine lees in tank, with no bâtonnage or racking to preserve freshness. Bottling takes place in the autumn following the vintage, without fining or filtration, delivering a bright, mineral-driven expression of the blend.
Notes on the producer
Domaine Charvin is a sixth-generation family estate based in the southern Rhône. Laurent Charvin took the reins in the early 2000s and immediately converted the estate’s 32 hectares (including holdings in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône) to certified organic viticulture. Winemaking is guided by minimal intervention: fermentations begin with whole-cluster fruit and native yeasts in gravity-fed concrete vats and enamel tanks, and a pneumatic press ensures the gentlest extraction. The estate eschews fining, filtration, and sulfur additions throughout vinification, bottling pure, terroir-driven wines that showcase the character of each parcel. Over the past two decades, Domaine Charvin has earned a reputation for elegant, precise Rhône whites that combine ripeness with crystalline minerality.
