Farming
Organic wine starts in the vineyard, with restrictions on synthetic herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers. Some producers are formally certified; others may farm organically but choose not to certify, especially at small scale. Certification is useful, but Cave also looks at the producer's wider farming and cellar practice.
Organic farming is not identical to biodynamic farming, and neither automatically means natural wine. Biodynamics has its own farming philosophy and certification bodies, while natural wine is a looser term connected to cellar intervention as well as farming. The overlap is real, but the words should not be treated as interchangeable.
Use this page when farming matters to you, then narrow by style, region or food. Organic bottles can be clean and classic, rustic and expressive, light and fresh, or structured and age-worthy. The farming approach is the starting point, not the whole flavour profile.
