About the wine

A stunning wine with a fruity fragrance and soft plum and blackcurrant flavours with a hint of cedar and spice. Soft and silky this is Tuscan juice at its best.

Notes on the producer

The wine company I Mandorli is in Tuscany, near Suvereto, a small village between Bolgheri and Piombino, on the hills in front of the coast.

"The idea of planting the vines, was of my father who bought the land in 2002 and in 2004/5 we planted the first vines. In the time we started, we met Andrea, who worked in a wine company, an expert in the biodynamic method. Whith Andrea’s help we started our project: to produce a wine that respects the nature, the soil and the land, that belongs to everyone:the land isn’t ours, so who farms must respect and look after it. Biodynamic methods help to do so, enriching the soil with a natural composition of micro-organisms that help the roots of the vines to find a balance. Our vines are influenced by many elements:sea, minerals, mediterrananean vegetation and sunlight is very strong. So these elements we can find in our wine. Our wine refects the soil that is stoney, clay or marl orscist. WE BELEVE IN OUR SOIL! WE FERMENTED A SOIL!"

About I Mandorli

Azienda I Mandorli is a small family-run estate on the sun-warmed slopes of the Maremma, devoted to Cabernet and other Mediterranean varieties. Run by the Mancini family (three generations now involved), the estate converted to organic farming over a decade ago, focusing on soil health, native cover crops and low-intervention viticulture to encourage balanced, well-ripened fruit. Yields are intentionally kept low by green-harvest and careful canopy work to concentrate flavours. In the cellar they favour traditional, hands-on techniques — parcel vinifications, native yeasts and gentle extraction — and a pragmatic approach to oak: new barrique for structure where needed, plenty of older wood to preserve varietal character. Production is limited and thoughtfully managed, producing wines that marry ripe Tuscan fruit with restrained, savoury tannins — wines that reward patience in the bottle.
