Why Cave selected it

Precise, site-driven Pommard from very old vines, minimal-SO2 winemaking, and a 2022 profile that balances ripe fruit with finesse—offering serious village-level depth and clarity.

About the wine

Pierrick Bouley’s 2022 Pommard is a strikingly pure and structured expression of this famed village. Sourced from multiple lieu-dits in Pommard, this wine is fermented with a portion of whole clusters and aged in a mix of older and limited new oak. It opens with aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and violets, underpinned by forest floor and savoury spice. The palate is powerful yet finessed, with taut acidity and firm but fine-grained tannins. A serious, age-worthy wine with classic Pommard depth and drive.

Notes on the producer

Since taking over his family’s domaine in 2014, he’s been recognized for crafting wines of balance, precision, and expressive terroir. Pierrick farms sustainably and vinifies with minimal intervention—native yeast fermentations, gentle extraction, and limited new oak. His reds, especially from Volnay and Pommard, show an admirable balance of structure and elegance, reflecting both his thoughtful style and the unique character of each vineyard site. His wines continue to impress for their clarity and age ability.
