Why Cave selected it

Old‑vine Gamay on granite, carbonic maceration with native yeasts and no added sulphites yields a pure, vibrant Nouveau that overdelivers for easy, chillable drinking.

About the wine

To keep the grapes fresh and crisp, they undergo carbonic maceration in stainless steel tanks in the winery. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and the juices are not filtered or clarified and no sulphites are added. Lots of red fruit it's super juicy & delicately perfumed. Serve lightly chilled.

About Jean-Claude Lapalu

Jean-Claude Lapalu is a winemaker from a winemaking family in Saint-Etienne-La-Varenne, near Brouilly. However, in 1996, he stopped selling his grapes to the cooperative in order to make his own wines. Influenced by of one of the most prestigious pioneers of natural wines, Jules Chauvet, he produces very personal and complex wines with minimal intervention, becoming a leading producer in the region. This Beaujolais-Village Nouveau comes from old Gamay vines planted on granite soils. Working with great care for the environment,he does not use chemical fertilisers or herbicides. He only uses biological treatments and the yields are very limited. The harvest is of course, manual.
