Why Cave selected it

Benchmark Loire red that delivers lively fruit, modest alcohol and broad food-pairing versatility at a fair price—an easy, crowd-pleasing alternative to Bourgogne rouge.

About the wine

This is a juicy blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir and has bags of cherry aromas and flavours including cloves, liquorice and earthy notes. Lively and fresh, it's designed to be drunk young and great with a plate of charcuterie.

Notes n the producer

The appellation of Cheverny extends along the left bank of the Loire from Sologne to the outskirts of Orleans. Its symbol is the castle of Cheverny, built in the style of Louis X111. Domaine Salvard has been in the Delaille family since the 1890's, the latest generation expertly managing their 30 hectares with a programme of conscientious (a.k.a.semi-organic) vineyard management.
