Why Cave selected it

An expressive Picpoul with coastal freshness and the texture of patient barrel ageing. A distinctive Mediterranean white with depth and energy.

About the wine

Marin 2024 is a textured, saline white from Picpoul grown near the Thau lagoon in coastal Languedoc. Pear, stone fruit and white flowers meet bright acidity and a long, mineral finish.

Hand-picked grapes are pressed directly, then fermented in old 228-litre barrels and aged on fine lees. This patient approach gives depth and texture while preserving Picpoul’s lively freshness. Serve cool with oysters, grilled fish or Mediterranean dishes with olive oil.

Mare Nostrum Vini is the Mediterranean project of Antoine Isenbrandt and Athénaïs de Béru. They seek out coastal vineyards and local grape varieties, naming each wine after a wind from its place of origin. Marin takes its name from the southerly wind that blows across the Languedoc.

How it is made

Hand-harvested grapes are directly pressed using a pneumatic press. Fermentation takes place in old 228-litre barrels, followed by 18 months on fine lees before bottling, according to the UK importer.

Vineyard & terroir
