About the wine

Leirana 2025 is a vibrant Albariño from Forjas del Salnés in Galicia’s Rías Baixas. Bright citrus and green apple meet a saline edge, with lees ageing adding texture to its crisp, refreshing palate.

Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and large oak vessels, it balances coastal freshness with depth. Serve cool with oysters, grilled prawns or seafood rice.

Rodrigo Méndez founded Forjas del Salnés in 2005 with the support of Raúl Pérez. Named after his grandfather’s ironworks, the project celebrates Galicia’s old vines and traditional varieties, making both Albariño and distinctive local reds.

How it is made

Native-yeast fermentation in stainless steel and large oak foudres, followed by ageing on fine lees. The 2025 UK listing describes seven months on lees without stirring, with malolactic fermentation blocked to retain freshness.

Vineyard & terroir

Albariño from the Val do Salnés in Rías Baixas, close to Galicia’s Atlantic coast. Mature vines grow on sandy, granitic soils in a cool maritime climate.
