Domaine Tempier
Provence France
Domaine Tempier, located in the heart of Bandol, is one of the region’s most celebrated estates, particularly known for its dedication to Mourvèdre. Managed for decades by the Peyraud family, the domaine has long been a pioneer in promoting traditional farming and winemaking practices in Provence. The estate’s 38 hectares of vines, situated on clay-limestone soils with maritime influence, are certified organic and largely composed of old-vine Mourvèdre, complemented by Grenache and Cinsault. Domaine Tempier produces several cuvées, including single-vineyard bottlings such as La Migoua, La Tourtine, and Cabassaou, but the Classique cuvée offers a quintessential expression of Bandol terroir. With proper cellaring, these wines evolve beautifully over decades, gaining complexity, savory depth, and a hauntingly earthy elegance that defines the best of the appellation.
