Domaine Georges Vernay
Rhone France
Georges Vernay is a legendary name in the Northern Rhône, credited with saving the Condrieu appellation in the 20th century when Viognier plantings had dwindled to just a few hectares. Now run by his daughter Christine Vernay, the domaine is a benchmark for elegant, precise expressions of Viognier and Syrah. Of their 24ha, about 8ha are Viognier in Condrieu, with additional plots in IGP Collines Rhodaniennes for Le Pied de Samson. Farming is sustainable, with meticulous vineyard management and minimal intervention in the cellar. Vernay’s wines, particularly the whites, are known for their purity, aromatic lift, and exceptional ageing potential.
