Domaine du Météore
Languedoc France
Domaine du Meteore is situated at Cabrerolles in the appellation of Faugeres and is owned by two English doctors who took over the estate in October 2018 from Guy and Geneviève Coste-Libes (2016 was to be their last vintage). The domaine is so named due to the presence of a 10,000 year-old meteor crater situated in an area of the vineyard named 'Le Clot' where the vines grow particularly well. Situated on rocky schist soils, derived from slate and found in only a few areas in the world. On schist, vine roots are forced to grow deep, which keeps yields low and brings a distinctive minerality to the wines, whilst they are suffused with the aromas of the wild herbs which characterise the area.
