Why Cave selected it

Micro‑estate Barbera from renowned enologist Sergio Molino; organically farmed vines and a richly fruited yet balanced style that’s versatile at the table.

About the wine

"Melia," named in honour of grandmother Amelia, is a stunning Barbera d'Alba, and one of the finest examples we have tried for some time. The vineyard faces southwest, allowing the grapes to fully ripen before harvest. The wine is aged in steamed barriques that helps reduce the influence the oak has on the wine. Super generous with layers of dark fruit just crack out some grilled meats, pasta with tomato sauce or roast mushrooms and enjoy!

About E. Molino

Sergio Molino is a renowned enologist in Italy, including his native region of Piemonte. He revived his family’s vineyard in La Morra, under the Ernesto Molino label, which is a a tribute to his father. His hands-off approach in the cellar allows the qualities of his tiny 2.5-hectare vineyard to shine. The wines he crafts are produced in limited quantities and they reflect a deep understanding of the historic winemaking of the region.
