Pierrick Bouley’s 2021 Volnay is a beautifully lifted and elegant expression of this classic village. Sourced from several lieu-dits in Volnay, the wine is vinified with partial whole cluster fermentation and aged in mostly used oak barrels. It opens with aromas of red cherry, rose petals, and subtle spice, backed by delicate earth and fine mineral nuances. The palate is silky and refined, with vibrant acidity, supple tannins, and a graceful, persistent finish. A pure, aromatic Pinot that captures the finesse of Volnay.
Notes on the producer
Based in Volnay, Pierrick Bouley represents the sixth generation of a winemaking family deeply rooted in the Côte de Beaune. Since taking over the domaine in 2014, he has quickly gained recognition for producing wines that combine precision, purity, and depth. Bouley’s philosophy emphasizes sustainable farming and minimal intervention in the cellar—fermenting with native yeasts, using gentle extractions, and limiting new oak. His red wines, especially from Volnay and neighboring appellations, consistently show balance, site transparency, and age-worthy elegance. Bouley’s commitment to detail is evident across all levels of his range.
