Why Cave selected it

A characterful grower Champagne that brings together red-grape depth, reserve-wine texture and a precise, dry finish.

About the wine

A dry, fruit-led Champagne made from equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Reserve wines and fermentation in small foudres and barrels bring texture and depth, while no dosage keeps the chalky finish focused.

How it is made

Hand-harvested fruit is traditionally pressed, then fermented in small foudres and barrels with lees stirring. Reserve wines make up half the blend. The producer describes malolactic fermentation, fine-lees ageing and hand disgorgement, with no dosage.

Vineyard & terroir

Selected plots in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay and Vallée de la Marne, with vines averaging about 30 years old and chalk contributing mineral freshness.

About Laherte Frères

Laherte & Frères are based in Chavot-Courcourt just to the south of Epernay in an area that falls between the Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. Domaine head Aurélien is part of a dynamic young generation of vignerons making waves in Champagne and producing a fine array of terroir-driven champagnes, adopting a natural approach to viticulture, looking for balance in their grapes, soils and vineyards.
