Why Cave selected it

A rare allocation from one of Gevrey’s most sought-after domaines, drawn from just 0.25 hectares across three premier-cru sites. It has the concentration to age, but also the perfume and precision that define modern Denis Mortet.

About the wine

Tasting Notes

Black cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry are layered with rose petal, fine spice and cool stone. The 2022 is concentrated without heaviness, carrying its fruit on velvety tannins and fresh acidity towards a long, precise, limestone-marked finish.

Producer

Domaine Denis Mortet is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s leading estates. Now led by Arnaud Mortet, the domaine is known for meticulous vineyard work, low yields and polished, intensely detailed Pinot Noir that combines depth with increasingly refined extraction.

How it is made

Hand-picked Pinot Noir is partly destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then matured for around 18 months in oak. Production is extremely small, at roughly 1,500 bottles.

Vineyard & terroir

This cuvée blends three small premier-cru parcels—Cherbaudes, Petite Chapelle and Bel Air—totalling around 0.25 hectares. Roughly 50-year-old vines grow across red chalky soils, gravel and steep limestone close to Clos de Bèze.
