Why Cave selected it

Classic Margaux freshness with enough depth for a special dinner, balancing polished tannins, berry fruit and gentle oak.

About the wine

Fresh berry fruit, a hint of white pepper and a little mocha give this 2016 Margaux both lift and depth. The palate is layered and generous, with silky tannins and a freshness that keeps the oak and fruit in balance.

Cabernet Sauvignon makes up 59% of the blend, alongside 36% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Sixteen months in French oak, half of it new, add texture and gentle toast. A good bottle for roast lamb, beef or a rich mushroom dish.

How it is made

59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Hand harvested and sorted, with separate parcel vinification in temperature-controlled concrete, wood and stainless steel. Aged 16 months in French oak, 50% new. DIAM closure.

About Château Marquis de Terme

Château Marquis de Terme sits in the heart of Margaux, with 40 hectares of vines on deep gravel soils and underlying pockets of clay. Its name dates to 1762, and the Seneclauze family has owned the estate since 1935. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot are vinified by parcel, with sustainable vineyard management and careful sorting supporting a style built around freshness, texture and fine tannins.
