Fresh and finely detailed Chardonnay, with aromas of lemon zest, white peach and ripe pear alongside a delicate floral lift. The palate is generous yet precise, combining juicy stone fruit with subtle buttery richness, chalky minerality and bright, energetic acidity. A gently savoury note runs through the long, citrus-led finish.
Bret Brothers is the small négociant project of brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret, who also run their family domaine, La Soufrandière, in Vinzelles. After taking over the estate in 2000, they established Bret Brothers the following year to explore exceptional parcels across the wider Mâconnais.
Rather than buying finished wine, the brothers select organically farmed vineyards—often old vines in distinctive limestone-rich sites—and harvest the grapes with their own team. Each parcel is vinified with the same care and minimal-intervention approach used for their domaine wines.
Cuvée Terroirs du Mâconnais brings together Chardonnay from several parcels across the region, including fruit from Mâcon-Villages, Saint-Véran, Viré-Clessé and Pouilly-Fuissé. The 2022 was matured for 11 months in a combination of tank and older barrels, creating a wine that offers both the richness of southern Burgundy and the precision for which the Bret brothers are known.
