Gre2 is a collaboration between Les Caves de Pyrene and Ricardo Feech who heads up the small, quality minded co-operative Cristo del Humilladero. The idea behind this and other projects is to create excellent value wines, from organically-farmed grapes and as naturally as possible, wines that faithfully reflect the place they come from. The winery Cooperativa Cristo del Humilladera was born in 1956 in the village of Cadalso del los Vidrios located on the slope of the Sierra de Gredos about 45 minutes’ drive west of Madrid. Climatologically, this is where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. Hot summers, cool nights, very cold winters. Really interesting micro-climates due to the numerous river valleys and mountains. Granitic soils predominate at 750m-900m altitude a freshness is given to the wines Mainly bush vines, some trellising, all unirrigated. The vineyards are full of life due to years of chemical free farming, the way their grandparents used to farm. Organic composts used.
