Grapes are hand-picked. One part of the harvest is destemmed and the other part undergoes a carbonic maceration. Gentle pressing and ageing for 12 month in stainless steel. punch in terms of flavour there is an elegance and restrained quality that makes it very drinkable. We love Rhone like this.
Notes on the producer
DMatthieu Dumarcher opened up his own winery in 2006 in a remote area near La Baume de Transit. Matthieu produces fresh fruity wines that reflect both the rich terroir and the personality of the maker. Trained as an oenologist, Matthieu was taught in the conventional way - making wines that he didn't like. Unlearning these practices and eschewing the chemical paraphernalia, he started his estate in 2006 with the intent to make fresh and precise wines true to the grapes he grows. He owns 5 hectares of old vines and produces half a dozen wines bottled as Côtes du Rhône or Vin de France.
Dumarcher uses minimal intervention in the winemaking process, including hand-harvesting the crops from the 45 to 80-year-old vines. Other than a small amount of sulphur at the time of bottling, there is little in the way of intervention.
