This case contains some of the best white wines burgundy has to offer.
What's in the box?
Chateau de Messey, Les Chouettes, 2021 - White Peach, Dairy, Citrus
It's a blend of 50% from the Clos and 50% from the vineyard by the Chateau, and in 10 year old barriques, and 3 yr old foudres. Named Chouettes (owls) out of respect, as at Messey they put so much into letting nature and the eco-system have its say in the area, which creates an environment in the vineyard where chemicals are not needed.
Domaine Garnier Et Fils, Petit Chablis, 2021 - Orchard Fruit, Mineral, Steely
Domaine Garnier is a 23ha estate based in Ligny-le-Châtel, the most northerly commune for producing Chablis. More complexity than you'd imagine from the AOC and honestly is much better than a lot of Chablis
Clos Des Vignes Du Maynes, Aragonite Blanc, 2019 - White Flowers, Citrus, Orchard Fruits
Clos Des Vignes Du Maynes Macon-Cruzille 'Aragonite' 2019 is a delightful wine from the Maconnais region of Burgundy, France. It's made from Chardonnay grapes grown in the Cruzille vineyard, hand-picked and fermented in oak barrels. This wine is known for its minerality and a good acidity, with aromas and flavors of white flowers, citrus, and orchard fruits. It's a perfect choice for wine lovers looking for something unique and different, and pairs well with seafood, poultry and creamy cheese.
Chataeu de Beru, Clos Beru Monopole, 2017 - Green Apple, Toasty, Lemon Zest
Grapes are hand harvested before a whole bunch long gentle press cycle and a natural fermentation (with indigenous yeasts). 100% Malolactic fermentation follows with a light cold gross lees racking. Vatting and alcoholic fermentation in oak with ageing for 1 year in demi-muids and one year in Foudre. Wine then spends 6 months in bottle before sale. No filtration, no fining, S02 total about 30 mg. This 2017 vintage presents a perfect balance. It will undoubtedly remain an anthology vintage with very good ageing potential. If you want classy age worthy Chablis then look no further.
Antoine Lienhardt, Mersault, 2020 - White Fruit, Herbaceous, Saline
In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and, once the must is decanted, it ferments spontaneously with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in neutral French oak barrels. A beautiful, poised and energetic style of Mersault.
Domaine Dureuil-Janthial, Rully Blanc, 2020 - Citrus, Green Apple, Succulent
From vines planted as recently as 2006 - and as long ago as 1920 - this is the largest cuvée of the domaine. At the harvest all the grapes are hand-picked into small cases for transport to the winery. They are then pressed hard - although he is clear that for this the grapes have to be ripe and in perfect condition. Fresh and bright and sappy, with a little phenolic lift to the finish. Will develop well in bottle if given a little time.
