Lezer is made from 100% Teroldego, spontaneously fermented in various tanks, unfined and unfiltered with low sulphites. The idea of creating a light Teroldego to celebrate the summer was something that interested Azienda Agricola Foradori for some time but it wasn’t until the hail storms of August 2017, which destroyed 40% of the harvest that Elizabetta decided to have a go. From the small amount of fruit harvested that vintage Lezer was born; a light fresh red made via a short maceration. Its name derives from the Trentino dialectical term for ‘light’
Notes on the producer
Foradori was founded in 1901 Northern Italy’s Alto Adige region. In 1984 Elisabetta Foradori, after having completed her enological studies, completed her first vintage at her family estate. She is widely credited with helping revive the popularity and quality of the Teroldego grape. In 2002 the estate began it’s conversion to biodynamic farming and received Demeter status in 2009. Wine has been made on the farm since the 1930’s, and from 1984, has been under Elisabetta’s guidance. Today, whilst Elisabetta has focused her attention to their cheese production, the 30ha estate is now lead by her children, Emilio, Theo and Myrtha, who have further progressed the farm’s narrative and focus, and brought a new energy and dynamism into the fold since 2013. Emilio and Theo look after the winemaking and marketing, whilst Myrtha focuses on the farming.
