Manzoni Bianco was created in the 1930s by crossing Riesling and Pinot Bianco, and it ended up being one of the most interesting wines of Italy. he combination of those attributes creates an incredibly attractive style of wine that most closely resembles Chenin Blanc, or perhaps Sémillon, both of which are also excellent white wines for winter’s frigid temperatures. Floral, citrus, spicy with Alsatian aromatic notes, wide and round on the palate, completely dry, supported by an important structure that makes it a particularly long-lived wine with a strong vitality.
Notes on the producer
Located in the small town of Pressano, on the hills of Trentino Alto-Adige, the Fanti winery makes its small size one of its strengths. Managed since 1991 by Alessandro Fanti, son of the first owner Giuseppe, the winery is divided between the countryside and a 17th-century rural house in the historic centre of the village.
The location is not the only traditional feature: Alessandro has recovered the old agronomic practices, fundamental for improving the quality of grapes and wine, and so today he produces wines full of character, fresh and fragrant, with white grapes from Incrocio Manzoni, Nosiola, Chardonnay, and red grapes of Teroldego, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, with skilful processing and long waits from fermentation to refinement in the bottle.
