This box contains 6 wines coursing with touches of residual sugar for those of us with a little sweeter tastes.

What's in the box?

Bodegas El Maestro Sierra, Pedro Ximenez -Raisins, Spice, Caramel

Spain / Fortified, Sherry / Pedro Ximenez / Sustainable

The grapes are harvested overripe and then are dried under direct sunlight for about fifteen days. The pressing is difficult and the must’s sugar content is as high as 300 grams per litre. It then starts a slow fermentation process and is fortified up to 10%. During the Autumn and Winter months the wine is clarified and further fortified up to 15%, then matured for five years in a solera system. Although sweet this is not to cloying. Great with cheese or poured over ice cream or just a dessert in a glass.

Vigneti Ca'D'Gal, Mosacto D'Asti 'Lumine', 2022 - Apricot, White Peach Mandarin

Veneto / White Sparkling / Moscato / Organic

From an 8 hectare parcel in Valdivilla, in Santo Stefano Belbo, the heart of Moscato country. The youngest vines are 27 years old, while the oldest are up to 50.Grapes are hand harvested before spontaneous Fermentation to 5-5.5% alcohol with indigenous yeasts. Moscato D'asti often gets a bad rap and their are some mass produced poor examples out there but when it's good it can be very enjoyable.  This is sweet, fun, frivolous and full of joy. Enjoy as an aperitif, with spicy food or with deserts.

Philippe Balivet Bugey Cerdon Trad NV - Cherry, Raspberry, Violets

Bugey / Sparkling Pink / Gamay / Organic

this cuvée is a blend of 2019 and 2020. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified by méthode ancestrale (see profile) using low levels of SO2 – 16 mg/l total. Second fermentation lasts four months at 10°C . Joyous sparkling sweet Gamay laden with red fruits and delicate perfume. It has a wonderful balance between sweetness and acid that keeps you coming back for more. 78g residual sugar.

Rheinhessen / White Wine / Riesling / Sustainable

This has the elegant and classical Riesling scent, beautiful fruit and a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity with low alcohol to boot.

Andreas Bender, Weissburgunder, 2020 -  Fresh, Stone Fruits, Lively

Mosel / White / Riesling / Organic

Also known as Pinot Blanc, this comes from 30 year-old vines on steep slopes with slate soils. Spontaneous fermentation followed by temperature controlled fermentation in old oak casks, then matured in stainless steel tanks to capture the crispness and full flavours of authentic Pinot Blanc. Finished wine has 5g of residual sugar. A wine with great delicacy, a round, silky mouthfeel and a soft stone fruit core with great sharpness on the finish.

Clos Lapeyre, La Magendia, 2018 - Exotic Fruit, Toasty, Vanilla

Jurancon AC / Sweet / Petit Manseng / Organic

La Magendia' means 'the best' in ancient Occitan and is made of late-harvested shrivelled Petit Manseng grapes, ensuring a great concentration of acids and sugars. Aged 12 months in barrels then the second winter in vats, bottling then takes place in the spring. Jurancon sweet wines provide such amazing value for the quality particularly when you compare to more prestigious names further North such as Sauternes. Exotic, toasty and sweet with the archetypal electric acidity you find in Jurancon.
